Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. Her family was raised as part of an multiethnic family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the youngest of two brothers and an older brother. Due to unrest in Sri Lanka, her family were forced to relocate to Bahrain in the early 1980s. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. Her passion for different cultures and languages inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school where she improved on French and Arabic in addition to learning Spanish. In 2006 she was named the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006, and was also a contestant for Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone entered the television world and hosted a program about Sri Lankan businesses called Lanka Business Report. Padukone had the honor of being a daughter of badminton world champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew as a child in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. As a teenager Padukone played in many National badminton competitions. But she gave up her passion for the game when she decided to become a fashion model. Padukone is from Mangalore, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone Village is situated in Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka located in India. Prakash Padukone is her father as well as a former badminton pro with international recognition. Her mother works as an agent for travel.
